Online Consultation Terms
Last updated: 29 September 2026
These terms apply to telephone or video consultations requested through EyeC Optical.
Scope of the consultation
An online consultation is a focused 15-minute conversation intended to provide general guidance, discuss your concerns and help identify an appropriate next step. It does not replace a comprehensive in-person eye examination where clinical tests are required.
Not for emergencies
Do not use an online consultation for sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, eye injury, marked redness, flashes or floaters, or any urgent eye problem. Seek prompt in-person medical care or emergency assistance.
Booking and payment
When paid online booking becomes available, a consultation will be confirmed once an available time is selected and the R150 fee is successfully paid. Until that system is activated, an enquiry or form submission is not a confirmed booking and no payment is taken.
Technology and meeting access
Where a video consultation is offered, joining details may be sent by email. You are responsible for using a compatible device, a stable internet connection and a private location. If technology prevents the consultation from proceeding, EyeC will advise on the available next step.
Availability and rescheduling
Available time windows will be set by the practitioner. EyeC may need to reschedule if the practitioner becomes unavailable. Any cancellation, rescheduling and refund policy shown during checkout will form part of the confirmed booking.
Clinical limitations
Advice is based on the information you provide and what can reasonably be assessed remotely. EyeC may recommend an in-person examination, referral or further testing before giving more specific guidance.
Privacy
Please join from a private location and avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive information by email or website form. Personal information is handled in line with our Privacy Notice.
